Winner – Painting at Harrop Fold Farm with Michael Moore – Tourism Experience of the Year 2007 – Visit Chester and Cheshire Tourism Awards.

Michael, professional artist and member of the Fine Art Trade Guild, is well known in the area and has spoken at many community groups, exhibiting locally as well as nationally and world-wide; the courses were requested by those who met and heard him, and saw him exhibit over the years.

Day and residential art courses in both oils and watercolour paints are offered throughout the year.  Michael’s own website lists the various courses and dates available.  During the summer, guests may enjoy painting in the farm grounds, which include a variety of locations: gardens, by the river or woodlands, hills and panoramic landscapes.  Responding to requests Holiday Sketching is now offered in addition to oils and watercolour courses.  During this course pencil or watercolour sketches will be made, and instead of taking a picture home, guests will return with their own sketchbook started and ready to take on holiday with them.

This year residential weekends have been launched, guests arriving on a Friday and enjoying an ‘artistic country-house party’ leaving Sunday with a wonderful painting…or two!

Day Course:  Arrive at Harrop Fold Farm for morning coffee with Michael Moore prior to moving into the art studio to begin the day’s painting.  The morning usually forms a master class where guests ‘follow’ Mike whilst being supervised; then after a delicious lunch of local and homemade or home reared produce set to to finish their task.  The afternoon sees Mike teach ‘professional secrets’ which guests love! By afternoon teatime the painting is completed, this is then framed and presented to the ‘artist’ who then takes this home as a wonderful testimony to their day at Harrop Fold Farm.  The sense of a guest’s achievement is wonderful to witness.
