Food
is very important to us all
at Harrop Fold Farm
Whilst
some people eat to live we live to eat!
We
source as much of our food locally as is possible primarily for
traceability as well as for the so different ‘local taste’.
However there are many other reasons which include keeping
our local suppliers busy, as well as the environmental issues of
food miles.
Here
at Harrop Fold the delicious, tasty eggs are courtesy of our
free-range farm hens and we breed beef cattle, which is offered to
our guests. Our
preserves are hand made in our kitchen on the Aga, as are the
cakes and biscuits our guests savour!
Our
Bed & Breakfast guests do
have the option of dinner with 48 hours notice.
This is a seasonal menu celebrating our own Harrop-reared
beef, although there are alternatives offered.
This service is also available to our Self-Catering
visitors who also may decide to take advantage of our breakfasts.
After
a long journey, a relaxing start to a stay at Harrop Fold
would be a lovely easy meal and for this reason Self-Catering
guests are offered a selection of Aga cooked home made meals that
would be left ready in the fridge for guests to reheat on their
arrival at Mellow Brook Cottage. We want your holiday to be as easy and trouble-free as
possible so why not order more for your freezer? Also a tasty
local hamper could be left in your cottage for your
breakfast. A full menu will be sent with the holiday confirmation
letter.
We
have created a delicious selection of suppers, picnic hampers and
home-cooked meals for you to enjoy. We identify foods
produced by award-winning local businesses that offer the
same commitment to excellence as ourselves.
Additionally,
we suggest an on line shopping service inviting our guests to
order Cheshire sourced fruit and vegetables - a Farmers Market
delivered to your cottage. Fresh,
tasty foods direct from producers in the North West from www.northernharvest.co.uk.
We are delighted to congratulate Northern Harvest
as Best Local Food Retailer – BBC Radio 4 Food and Farming
Awards 2006. Your
goods would be delivered here on a Thursday and left in your
cottage for a Friday arrival.
